I go to the sink and clean, cold, drinkable water comes out. I go to the pantry and it is filled with bread and treats. However, for so many people in the tiny village Kandas Vihear in Cambodia, this would be the highest luxury. They do not have clean water readily available, nor bread. But they do have Jesus. And so we must continue these conversation with them about Jesus and provide them these basic needs.
Twice a month, youth from a ministry in Cambodia come to Kandas Vihear to do just that. They teach the people Christian songs, play games, and tell stories for the children. At the same time, this group also provides training for teachers in the village. Meanwhile a medical clinic is set up at the school for the villagers to take advantage of.
Bread is distributed at every visit. It's always a joy watching the expression on their faces as they receive it. Since there are no bakeries in this area, this French bread is indeed a delicacy. Some village members are also given water filters and the volunteers visit these homes to give instructions on how to keep the filters clean.
This is only a glimpse into the ministry being done at this village. The work is simple, but vital. We are the Body of Christ, and it is not right that one part is thriving while another is suffering. So we continue to come, twice a month. The youth come. Bringing with them basic necessities and hearts ready to engage with our brothers and sisters in the name of Jesus Christ.
