This is my second year interning, and it has been incredible to see how much I’ve changed since last year. My leaders give me every opportunity to grow and to experience new things. The office is always filled with as much laughter and good conversation as it is with work. Relationships are important, whether it’s the relationships within our leadership team, the student teams that are here, or the people we are meeting in ministry. Now, as God is calling me to Peru, I can more fully appreciate how I have been prepared becuase of my time here.
In Peru this Fall, I will be working with a ministry base there. Looking back, my leaders have truly done so much to help me prepare for this, whether it’s by teaching me a new Spanish word, having me work with the Latino teams, sharing their stories and experiences, giving advice, or giving me a simple encouragement. They have invested time in preparing me for this next step in my life, and I am so grateful.
Some of my favorite moments were from working in the office. There is definitely joy and laughter are definitely throughout most of the day, but I have also had many deep and quality conversations in that small office. We have had impromptu prayer times, and many encouraging encounters with each other. There isn’t any other way I could imagine spending the summer. We get to watch God working in the groups as they come through, and we get to watch Him work on each of us daily. This ministry and the people here have been so central to preparing me for work in Peru. I have been poured into and filled, and now it is my turn to pour into others. It will always have a place in my heart, and I hope to return for a summer soon!
