One of the last nights of our mission trip, we gathered around a campfire and ate s'mores and worshiped God. The stars were out and it was hard not to recognize the splendor and vast greatness of the Lord. It went on for hours, and you could really feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.
That night we also did a recap of the week and shared what people experienced and what God showed them through the Lakota people. It was so encouraging and uplifting. Even though it was midnight, I gained so much energy from the night, I did not want to stop worshipping. There is something about being in the presence of God and worshipping collectively as a group that is so powerful. There was such a unity of spirit and it was beautiful.
Ministry is not a one-way street. I am learning that the one who gives the Gospel is just as much impacted as the one hearing the Gospel. We were deeply impacted that night, the Holy Spirit was working in and among us. We felt restored, even though this trip was not about us.
