In the Wakiso District of Uganda, there is a little town - Bulenga Town - that houses the Kyosiga Community Christian Association for Development (KACCAD). The work that this community is doing is so vital to the larger community. Depending heavily on funding from volunteers, they are able to put on many development and training projects in which volunteers teach classes in the schools, conduct health classes and workshops, and help with other community projects as needed.
The growth that this little community has seen is actually quite extraordinary. As funding becomes available, KAACAD is building a facility that will provide space for their offices and training/development classes, clinic, and rooms for volunteers. This will eliminate the current high costs of rent. We are committed to providing as much assistance to KAACAD as posible. For example: The principal at Good Hope Orphanage Center has such a heart for these kids. He and his family live in this partially completed building at the site of the orphanage. Recently a storm blew off the temporary roof. Thanks to funds from donors, there is now a permanent roof over the family’s living quarters.
The work that these volunteers are doing truly will benefit us and our children far into the future. Coming to teach these communities is a long term solution, not a short term one. Our kids are growing, our staff and community are learning and there is a sense of hope within these people. Thank you to the volunteers and donors who have contributed, it is not taken for granted. Knowledge is a powerful thing.
